What you need to prepare:

Human hair lace front wig;

Mild shampoo and hair conditioner;

A wide-tooth comb;

Hair ties;

A pair of gloves;

Hair dye;

A brush;

A mixing bowl;

A hairdryer.

Step 1: Prepare your wig

Comb your wig with a wide-tooth comb to loosen knots and remove dirt. Wash your lace front wig gently with a mild shampoo. Use a soft towel to soak out the wig. Apply hair conditioner onto the wig and let the conditioner sit for 30-60 minutes. Rinse out the hair conditioner under the tap. Let the wig air dry or blow it dry at the lowest heat setting. Make a deep condition before dyeing the wig can protect the hair strands. Set the wig at a wig stand and detangle the wig with a wide-tooth comb.

Step 2: Section the wig

Separate the wig into 4-6 even sections and secure them with hair ties so that you can apply the hair dye evenly later.

Step 3: Apply hair dye

Put on a pair of gloves and wear an old t-shirt. Squeeze out hair dye into the mixing bowl and blend with a brush. Spray hair spray on the lace front of the wig to protect it from coloring. Wait for a few minutes until the spray is thoroughly dry. Release one section of hair strands and use a brush to apply hair dye onto the wig evenly. Once one section is finished, pull it away from other sections and continue to dye other pieces until the whole wig is finished. Let the hair dye sit for a while according to the instruction on the box. Check every 10 minutes. Once the wig tends to the color your desire, rinse out the hair dye under the tap.

Step 4: Shampoo and condition the wig

Shampoo the wig again and apply a small amount of hair conditioner to moisturize the hair strands after washing. Let the hair conditioner sit for 10-30 minutes and then rinse it again. Use a soft towel to soak out the wig and set the wig on a wig stand to let it air dry. Finally, apply some natural oil to moisturize and shine the wig. And the whole dyeing process is finished.

Be noticed that you can't dye the wig into a lighter color without bleaching it. If you desire a lighter color, you need to bleach the wig in advance. We have made a detailed tutorial in our previous post: How to bleach lace front wig? Click and read more. What's more, if you need to bleach your wig, you'd better bleach it several days before coloring it.

How to care for colored lace front wigs?

Tip 1: Pick a mild color-safe shampoo and hair conditioner that can slow down the fade process.

Tip 2: Avoid washing your wig too frequently. Commonly, the more you wash, the quicker the color will fade. Washing your wig once every two weeks is ok.

Tip 3: Make a deep condition after washing the wig can help to protect the hair.

Tip 4: Avoid over-heat and over-chemical treatment while styling your wig. Let the wig air dry as possible after washing. Although 100% human hair lace front wigs allow you to dye more than once, over-styling does bring hurt to the hair.
